My CV
Work in retail in Waitrose | Burgess Hill 2024 - Present
-
My job description is Retail Assistant which consists of completing tasks such as reducing stock that needs to be sold before the next day, making sure all jobs are complete before the end of the night, donating to charities the food that we don't manage to sell and much more.
-
I have picked up the skill to converse with customers, applying the Passionate Partners Initiative meaning I am comfortable to chat with customers whilst simultaneously helping them with any problems or queries they may have.
-
I have had to learn many new skills such as working on a till or how to reduce with a handset showing my openness to working with new and challenging technology.
-
I have also had to learn the layout of the store in able to help customers find what they need which highlights my skill to adapt to my surroundings and how I am able to commit important details to memory.
-
During my time at Waitrose, the way we reduced items on our handsets changed drastically meaning we all had to learn the new way of doing things and forget the old way. I managed to pick this new way up very quickly showing my ability to adapt easily to change and my willingness towards said change.
-
The transition from working in a cafe led by 5 people to working at a highly renowned supermarket was a large change yet one that I was excited to do as it meant that I was able to work with a larger team of people and learnt how to cooperate within that larger team.
-
When working in retail, you must maintain precise attention to detail as you are constantly checking for the dates of products. One missed product could mean it is sold to a customer out of date so I have accumulated a strong attention to detail to prevent this from happening.
Waitress/Barista at The Purple Carrot Cafe | Hassocks, West Sussex 2022 - 2024
-
I worked as a waitress and barista at The Purple Carrot for 2 years making and serving coffee, tea, cakes and food to customers.
-
Being behind the counter when customers arrived created many different customer service skills that I had to learn, for example: social skills such as greeting customers and politely chatting to them whilst I completed their orders ensuring that they get great service, getting to know my regular customers so I can efficiently make their orders so I didn’t get too overwhelmed or crowded in orders whilst building loyalty and a relationship with them and making customers feel recognised and pleased with the service so they come back more often.
-
I was occasionally given the responsibility of closing up and locking the cafe as I was the last one to leave which showed that my boss trusted me with his cafe and believed that I was capable of completing such an important task whilst leaving the cafe in a prepared state for the people opening the next day
-
Every week I did the same shift on a Sunday which I was required to arrive punctually at 9:30am looking presentable and prepared for the day.
-
I learnt many new skills such as how to use a card machine and till, and how to make a perfect coffee with the espresso machine which I picked up very quickly and am now able to use very efficiently.
-
Working in an environment where we served food to customers, a critical part of my responsibility was to clean surfaces and facilities to ensure that us and the customers were in a safe and sterile environment.
-
During the slower hours of the day I used my initiative and offered to make new baked good for the customers or run down to the local shop to pick up supplies when we were running short.
-
Being part of a small team meant I had to create good relationships with all my coworkers regardless of their age.
